Lisbon has three self-guided walks, one per district. Belém (about 90 minutes, 4.6 km) runs from the Jerónimos Monastery past the Pastéis de Belém, the Tropical Botanical Garden, Belém Palace, the National Coach Museum and MAAT to the Padrão dos Descobrimentos and the Torre de Belém.
Baixa & Chiado (54 minutes, 1.8 km) starts on Praça do Comércio, walks the Pombaline grid of Rua Augusta to the Santa Justa Lift and the Carmo Convent ruins, and continues past A Brasileira, the Bertrand bookshop and Praça Luís de Camões to the Bica lift. Alfama (80 minutes, 3.5 km) comes down from São Jorge Castle through the Portas do Sol viewpoint, the Alfama lanes, the Fado Museum and the National Pantheon to the waterfront and Lisbon Cathedral.
