2 free self-guided walking tours, with an audio guide at every stop.
We have two walks in the United Kingdom, one in each capital. Edinburgh's Royal Mile runs down the spine of the Old Town, a UNESCO site, from the castle to the royal palace; London's Westminster gathers the abbey, Parliament and the offices of government, also UNESCO-listed, around a few hundred metres of Whitehall.
The Edinburgh walk goes from the castle esplanade past The Hub and St Giles' Cathedral to the Real Mary King's Close and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, about 50 minutes and 2.2 km. The London walk starts at Westminster Abbey, passes the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, follows Whitehall past the Cenotaph and Downing Street to Horse Guards Parade and ends in Trafalgar Square, about 55 minutes.
Both are free, need no app, and play the narration for each stop as you arrive.
