A route to start from. A trip you decide.
Start from a well-made walking route, keep only the places you want and fit the order to your day. On site, walk that same route and hear the story of each place with the free GPS audio guide. No app, no sign-up. 149 curated routes in 77 cities across 36 countries.
A good route, fitted to your trip
Start by looking at a well-made base route. Keep the places you want, drop what you don't need, change the order, or add places you want to go — a restaurant, a café. Then walk it as it is.
Look at the base route. See the whole route and its places on the map, with each place's story and the estimated walking time.
Make it fit your trip. Drop places or change the order, and add the restaurant, café or reservation you want to go to.
Walk the route you made. Start right from the same screen. On site, GPS notices you've arrived and plays that place's story. Usually one to three minutes per stop, hands-free.
No app to install and no sign-up — open it in your phone's browser while you're already out.
A good route is still not your trip
The route has nine places; two of them you have already seen, and lunch is at a restaurant you booked — but you would rather not plan the day from scratch. Start from the base route: drop the places you don't need, change the order, and add the restaurant. Time and distance update on the spot, and on site you walk that route as it is. An example — Rome: Colosseum & Forum is 9 places; drop the two you've seen and add your lunch place, and the route recalculates right there.
You don't have to plan it from scratch, or follow a fixed route as it is
Map apps are strong at finding your way, and audio tours give you a well-made route with narration. Heritage Walking takes a good base route as the starting point, adjusts only the parts that don't fit your day, and uses the result on site as it is.
What this is, in plain terms
Every route is a self-guided walking tour with location-based audio: a walking map of the stops, a walking route to follow, and narration that starts automatically when you reach each stop. About half of the walks take under an hour, and every route is designed to finish within two hours. Unlike a group tour you set the pace and pick the stops; unlike going it alone, the route and the stories are already there.
Narration languages: English, Korean and Japanese. Where a language is not available for a route yet, it plays in English and says so on screen.
